Amanda Compton has been practicing as an Equine Dental Technician since 2001, working with veterinarians throughout Northern Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley as well as West Virginia and Maryland.
She was one of the first equine dental technicians recognized by the Virginia Board of Veterinary Medicine in 2008.
Amanda has a strong educational background in Animal Science (B.S in Animal Science from WVU 2001) and an Equine Studies Certificate from Lord Fairfax Community College 2009.
She is currently enrolled in Northern Virginia Community College’s Veterinary Technology program. Amanda is employed part time by Virginia Tech’s Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center, the area’s largest and most well know equine veterinary, teaching & referral hospital, where she works in the nursing department. She also speaks to licensed veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, and vet tech students on equine dentistry.
Amanda is a proud member of the American Association of Equine Veterinary Technicians and completed their Certificate program in equine nursing care.
Amanda and her husband, Stephen, live in Middletown, Virginia on their small farm together with their 4 horses. She enjoys competing her Arabian gelding in carriage driving events and recently won 5 Top Tens at the US Arabian Sport Horse Nationals. Stephen and Amanda also enjoy traveling whenever they have time, including to Stephen’s hometown of Beccles, England.
